Let’s talk about meal prep container! You might be here browsing even before starting your meal preps. Or you might be someone who has been meal-prepping for years and are now looking to upgrade your current storage capsules.
Wherever you are on your meal-prep journey I have some recommendations and warnings, some pros and cons to hopefully gear you in the right direction!
I have different meal prep containers listed for different price points; I fully stand by not splurging a whole crap ton of money into something you don’t even know if you’re going to go through with yet. I certainly didn’t. I bought the 10$, 3 compartment containers at first.
I realized that for me and my cooking style that 3 compartments didn’t work. needed 1 compartment to be able to put casseroles and mixed food. I’m really glad I didn’t spend a ton of money at first.
One of the goals of meal prepping is to save you money. There are plenty of pretty, shiny containers to draw you in and make you think that you have to spend a lot of money. But you don’t.
Everyone’s needs will be different, I recommend starting small before investing big.
3 Compartment Meal Prep Containers
I can’t find the exact ones I tried first unfortunately but it was extremely similar to these ones on amazon. You’ll still see photos of the 3 compartment containers on my blog! The only difference was the color.
They are super inexpensive. They look nice for photos. They have great reviews on amazon so if your looking to start with something I would still recommend these ones. Yes, even though I don’t use them that much anymore.
I will give a slight warning however that the lids break easily. Like one broke the first day I got them. You really do get what you pay for with these meal prep containers I find. They wont last you years and years of preparing food. But for the price this is to be expected but still worth it in my opinion.

If that seems like your style of meal prepping and you are dreaming of having the 3 compartment containers. Then you should check these out and try it.
Single compartment meal prep containers
Next I tried something really similar to these ones. I personally like this style better. We use these a lot even for just throwing our leftovers into and it makes the perfect meal size.
This link is to a package of 15.
I’ve even bought different sizes to see which size I’d like the best. I like having different size options now for different things and different leftovers.
On amazon there are a lot of options for the same kind of meal prep containers. I suggest getting a package of a little bit more than what you need in case one of the lids breaks!
I’ve also purchased these ones. I like the shape. They are similar to the ones I listed before but the shape is more of a preference, aesthetic thing. They remind me of fast-food take-out containers.

I still use some of those ones to this day even though some of the lids have expectantly broken. You’ll see them in a lot of my photos on this website. Even though I’m slowly working on upgrading my meal prep containers, I Don’t think you should go and throw out all the old ones you have.
Glass meal prep containers
Moving on to the nicer, more durable containers. I’ve tried and tested quite a bit of meal prep containers at this point, and my library of the ones I use every day and every week are not all the same. Right now, I can’t say that I have an all-time favorite brand but I will say I do love the glass ones the best. I do find that glass is the way to go for long lasting prep containers. Although the cost is a little more to start out if you’re looking for great meal prep containers and are ready to splurge it’s worth it.
I’m a Pyrex container fan and have quite a few size options for this. They are glass, do really well in the microwave and dishwasher and I don’t have to worry that the lids will shatter. I personally have a few different sizes and shapes of these ones.
Links to a few different container options!
This is a full set of Pyrex containers with different size options. This is perfect if you are meal prepping for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
If you love the 3 compartment containers here is an option for full glass ones! This is an 8 pack which is perfect for the whole week. I really love the clasps on the side of the containers, in my experience these type of lids don’t typically break.
This is an option for an 8 pack of single compartment meal prep containers! Again, I really love the side clasp lids and I think you will too. They are freezer safe and microwave safe which for me is really important when choosing containers that you are putting leftovers in.
These containers are the same concept but are smaller for snacks.
There are so many options for good meal prep containers, I hope that I was able to point you in the right direction.
